The SMS message better know as “smishing” comes from an unknown source pretending or disguising as the CSULB I.T. Helpdesk asking the student if they requested to have their MS 365 school email shutdown.
Message Intent
The scammer is trying to trick students into revealing their login details and other personal information. This can lead to accounts being compromised and personal files being stolen. Additionally, responding to the scammer might result in downloading malware that can damage your device. Do not engage with the scammer. Instead, report any suspicious activity to alert@csulb.edu immediately.
